The resources recommended below are a sampling of some of the wonderful volumes of scientific data, writings and presentations available demonstrating how our diet and lifestyle choices impact our health and wellness.

Dr Weil and Dr Ornish have led the revolution within and evolution of healthcare for decades. Both have written a number of remarkable books.  Books that have demonstrated a path for the migration of sickcare to healthcare; I highly recommend their writings.

Dr Terry Wahls is a leading researcher on how diet and lifestyle affect inflammation in the context of auto immune disorders.  She shares in her teachings her health and wellness journey and the stunning positive results she experienced using food as medicine.

Inflammation and immune system 'dysregulation' are base components of chronic illness. Her work and her Wahls Protocol uses diet and lifestyle to well address these components.

Dr T Colin Campbell and Dr Caldwell Esselstyn provide an introduction to their groundbreaking work in both their books and the documentary "Forks Over Knives".  They along with Dr Ornish and Dr Weil have been working for decades to bring the benefits of a plant based diet to the public and Dr Esselstyn's program for cardiovascular prevention and reversal can be found at the Cleveland Clinic.

Dr Walker is a sleep scientist, author and professor who has several presentations available on TED Talks or youtube.com regarding sleep and its importance for our health and wellness.  I recommend folks take a look at his presentations. They are brilliant.

An introduction to the microbiome is eloquently presented in the Sonnenburg's book, "The Good Gut", by Erica and Justin Sonnenburg, PhDs. They provide an overview of how folks can begin to support a healthy microbiome in the gut with their food choices. This book is a super introduction to the science of the gut microbiome.

The topic of 'processed food' is also an item to review when optimizing diet.  To get on overview of what this is and the history of how ultra processed 'foods' became an 'American norm' the book by Chris Van Tulleken, "Ultra-Processed People", is an eye-opening read. Regarding this topic, another champion educator is Dr Robert Lustig who has many presentations and writing available that are top notch.
